Urinetown Update

Posted on: January 8th, 2019 by KW Musical Productions

After careful consideration, KWMP has decided to cancel our production of Urinetown scheduled for May/June 2019. Although the excitement and enthusiasm for the show was high, the board felt that the time and energy required to mount the production in the planned timeframe to the level we desire for a KWMP show were beyond the organization’s current capacity.

Thank you to the many talented and enthusiastic people who applied to be part of the creative team for this production, and to those members and volunteers who continue to support us.

Additional information about KWMP’s 2019 season will be shared via the newsletter in the near future.

KWMP is Proud to present

Urinetown

The Registry Theatre

May 23–June 1, 2019

Winner of three Tony Awards, three Outer Critics Circle Awards, two Lucille Lortel Awards and two Obie Awards, Urinetown is an hilarious musical satire of the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, municipal politics and musical theatre itself! Hilariously funny and touchingly honest, Urinetown provides a fresh perspective on one of America’s greatest art forms.

In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity’s most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides that he’s had enough and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom!

Inspired by the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, Urinetown is an irreverently humorous satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny. Praised for reinvigorating the very notion of what a musical could be, Urinetown catapults the “comedic romp” into the new millennium with its outrageous perspective, wickedly modern wit and sustained ability to produce gales of unbridled laughter.

Auditions for Titanic the Musical

Posted on: August 14th, 2018 by KW Musical Productions

K-W Musical Productions is proud to present

Titanic the Musical

Directed by Alexander Galant, Music Direction by Deva Neely and Choreography by Mistyna Wilcock

In the final hours of April 14 1912, the RMS Titanic, on her maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New York, collided with an iceberg and ‘the unsinkable ship’ slowly sank. 1517 men, women and children lost their lives.

Based on real people aboard the most legendary ship in the world, Titanic The Musical is a stunning and stirring production focusing on the hopes, dreams and aspirations of her passengers who each boarded with stories and personal ambitions of their own. All innocently unaware of the fate awaiting them, the Third Class immigrants dream of a better life in America, the Second Class imagine they too can join the lifestyles of the rich and famous, whilst the millionaire Barons of the First Class anticipate legacies lasting forever.

Titanic The Musical is the winner of five Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Original Score, and Best Book of a Musical and an outstanding ensemble production.
